Handing over a flat for a long-term let
Example project
Demonstration only — not a completed IM-Development project.
A sample of how an organised handover of a property to a new tenant can look.
- Property type
- Three-room flat
- Location
- Not specified (hypothetical)
Objective
For the tenant to move into a property whose condition is documented, and for the owner to have a clear view of payments.
Starting point
Assume the owner lives in another city, the lease is already signed and the utility accounts are in the owner's name. A previous handover took place without any written record.
Illustrative sequence of work
- 01A handover report with meter readings and photographs of every room.
- 02Key handover with the number and type of keys recorded.
- 03An agreed procedure for paying utilities and a monthly check of incoming rent.
- 04A short tenant guide: contacts, emergencies and building rules.
Expected outcome (illustrative)
The expected deliverable is a documented start to the tenancy and a clear routine for the months ahead. The description is illustrative and does not represent a real client.
